Q. How do I read my development invoice?

A.  Your development invoice will include all of the usual information– including date, invoice number, customer name and id, etc.

In the main portion of the invoice, the left hand column is named ‘Reference No.’ This reference number (ex. 05) is a code for the type of work that we performed. This code is explained in the first line of the second column (named Description). For example, if the Reference No. is 05, this line will read “Website Maintenance Services (Edits, Publishing, and General)”.

The remaining lines of the description will look something like this:

080108.5.0 Edits to prices and descriptions of products.

The first portion of this (080108) is the date. The 5.0 is the number of hours we worked on this task.

“Edits to prices and descriptions of products” is the explanation of the work we performed.

The third column, Hours/QTY . . . well, that’s pretty self-explanatory.

The rate is the rate from your contract or your maintenance rate. The far right column is a total for that line, with a total due at the bottom.
